Manta Rays
Hundreds of manta rays congregate at Hanifaru Bay to feed on plankton. The spectacle peaks in July and August when conditions inside the bay create ideal feeding conditions. This is one of the greatest wildlife events on earth.
Whale Sharks
South Ari Atoll Marine Protected Area is the most reliable whale shark destination in the world. Whale sharks are present year-round, with the highest concentration between January and April.
Hammerhead Sharks
The channels of Vaavu Atoll attract hammerhead sharks, particularly during the northeast monsoon season. Night diving at Alimatha is world-famous for nurse sharks and stingrays.
